Sweden proved untouchable in the women’s World Cup team sprint in Davos on Friday afternoon. After Astrid Øyre Slind and Kristin Austgulen Fosnæs upped the pace on the penultimate lap, Maja Dahlqvist created a small gap for Sweden over the final climb before the last exchange.
On the anchor leg, Jonna Sundling held the lead as both Norwegian finishers gave chase. Mathilde Myhrvold produced a powerful finishing straight to take second for Norway’s second team, edging Kristine Stavås Skistad of Norway’s first team in the sprint for the remaining podium places.
The race was the first event of the Davos World Cup weekend. The program continues with an individual freestyle sprint on Saturday, followed by a 10 km individual freestyle race on Sunday.
