Norwegian cross‑country legend Therese Johaug has definitively closed the door on extending her competitive comeback. In a post on Instagram, Johaug revealed that she and her partner are expecting their second child in January, sharing a photo showing her growing belly.
Johaug had returned to elite racing last winter for a limited comeback culminating in the Trondheim 2025 World Championships. She repeatedly stressed that the comeback was only for that season. In Trondheim she won three silver medals and one bronze, adding to a storied career that also includes four Olympic golds and 14 world titles when relays are included.
Johaug and her partner already have a daughter born in 2023. The new pregnancy, she noted, ‘seals’ her decision to step away from competitive skiing beyond last winter’s return.
