Cross-country skier Verneri Suhonen's career may come to an end following this weekend's SM championships in Taivalkoski. He has struggled to meet the goals he set for himself this season, highlighting his disappointment in missing a selection for the World Championships in Trondheim.

Suhonen, a member of Ounasvaaran Hiihtoseura, expressed that he would make a definitive decision after competing in the 50-kilometer event on Sunday. He participated in various races this season but felt that his performance in the World Cup events did not reflect his potential.

Suhonen also mentioned that competing in Taivalkoski will allow him to process his thoughts about his career after what has been a difficult year, both mentally and physically. "After Sunday, I'll know a lot more about my future plans," he stated, emphasizing the significance of this weekend's competition.
