With just over one kilometre left in the Tour de Ski pursuit William Poromaa fell and injured his rib. The 25-year-old Swedish star reported that the sensation and breathing difficulty feels similar to a previous rib fracture. He told Aftonbladet: “I have broken a rib before so I know roughly what it feels like, and it feels similar. It is difficult to get air into the lungs.”
Poromaa finished 23rd in the day's pursuit in the Tour de Ski. The race saw teammate Edvin Anger take a podium place.
The injury is a heavy blow for Poromaa with just over a month to go until the Olympic Games in Milano‑Cortina 2026.
