Nathalie Armbruster confirmed her dominance in the FIS Nordic Combined Summer Grand Prix by winning the women’s Individual Gundersen in Chaux‑Neuve, France. The German claimed her second triumph of the series and defended the yellow bib in front of a lively French crowd.
In the morning ski jumping on La Côté Feuillée HS118, Finland’s Minja Korhonen led with 104 m (99.8 pts), putting her first onto the 5 km roller ski. Local favorite Romane Baud was second after the furthest jump of the day at 109.5 m (99 pts), starting 3 seconds back, while Armbruster jumped 102 m (98.5 pts) to start third, 5 seconds behind.
With the margins tight, the three quickly defined the race dynamic. Armbruster bridged to Korhonen and the pair pushed the pace, while Baud drifted off. “It feels awesome to have this second victory,” Armbruster said. “I felt pretty good on the hill and my race was also good.”
At halfway, Jenny Nowak, Teja Pavec and Baud formed the first chase group about 40 seconds down. Further back, Slovenia’s Ema Volavšek (9th after the jump) and American Tara Geraghty‑Moats (7th after the jump) hunted them down and latched on by the final lap, setting up a sprint for third.
At the front, Armbruster surged again to drop Korhonen and skied solo to the line, winning by 15.2 seconds. Korhonen held on for second, while Volavšek (+29.0) edged Geraghty‑Moats (+30.3) for the final podium spot. Armbruster’s back‑to‑back victories keep her firmly atop the overall Summer Grand Prix standings.
