Austria celebrated a dominant day in Trondheim as Johannes Lamparter captured the Nordic Combined World Cup after one jump and a 10 km cross‑country race. Lamparter stopped the clock in 23:30.6 to win by 11.6 seconds over teammate and jumping winner Franz‑Josef Rehrl, expanding his lead in the overall standings. It marked Lamparter’s 20th career World Cup victory and his third win of this Olympic season in four races.

Lamparter called it a “mega start” to the season and praised both his jump and a “mega” cross‑country race. Rehrl, who flew 137.5 m to take the morning jumping round, said finishing third and second in Trondheim over the weekend was “mega,” adding he showed his strength on the hill and was satisfied with his race despite Lamparter’s stronger finish.

From the jump, Lamparter (133 m) started the ski segment 12 seconds behind Rehrl, and the Austrian duo proved untouchable throughout the 10 km, with Germany’s Julian Schmid crossing third at 27.3 seconds back. Austria placed several more athletes in the points: Stefan Rettenegger (6th), Thomas Rettenegger (13th), Paul Walcher (19th), Florian Kolb (21st), Martin Fritz (23rd), and Mario Seidl (38th).

With Trondheim—last season’s World Championship venue—completed, the weekend served as an ideal tune‑up for Austria’s home World Cup in Ramsau in two weeks following a short World Cup break. Lamparter cautioned that Ramsau is a tricky venue with a demanding inrun track and one of the toughest courses on the calendar, but said the team feels strong and united heading home.
