FIS | COC: Maiden victory for Flatla

Kasper Moen Flatla claimed his first international victory in the men’s first FIS Continental Cup Individual Gundersen competition held in Eisenerz, Austria.

The day began with the Ski Jumping round on the HS109, where Austria’s Andreas Gfrerer delivered the longest jump, soaring 105.5 meters for an impressive 145.5 points. This performance earned him the lead and the first starting position in the 10 km cross-country race.

Close behind was fellow Austrian Christian Deuschl, who landed a 102-meter jump (143.9 points) and started the race just 6 seconds after Gfrerer. Norway’s Kasper Moen Flatla rounded out the top three after jumping, achieving a distance of 100 meters (135.7 points) and beginning the race 39 seconds behind the leader.

In the cross-country segment, Flatla showcased exceptional endurance and strategy. Working together with his Norwegian teammate Espen Andersen, who started in 4th position, the duo shared the lead, aiming to maintain their advantage over the chasing group.

One of the day’s most remarkable performances came from Aleksander Skoglund, also of Norway. Starting the race in 22nd position, 1:53 minutes behind, Skoglund delivered an extraordinary effort to close the gap and move toward the front.

In the final stages, Flatla broke away to secure his first international victory, crossing the finish line 7.2 seconds ahead of Andersen, who took second place. Skoglund’s incredible comeback earned him a spot on the podium, finishing third, just 11.3 seconds behind the winner.
