The Oberstdorf native Vinzenz Geiger achieved his third victory of the season at the Nordic Combined World Cup in Ramsau am Dachstein on December 21, 2024. After starting 15th following the jumping segment, he performed exceptionally in the race, pulling ahead decisively on the final climb against Finland's Ilkka Herola. Julian Schmid, repeatedly making the podium, finished third.

Geiger expressed his satisfaction: "It is always cool to come here. Closing the year like this is fantastic." Schmid, who called the race "extremely tough", commented that he initially allowed the other contenders to set the pace before making his own move in the final stretch.

This event marks a return to form for the DSV team following a weather-impacted previous competition. The group had made significant headway, catching up to the leading pair Herola and Stefan Rettenegger from Austria by the halfway point of the race. Geiger surged ahead on the final ascent, winning with a one-second margin before Schmid crossed ahead of Herola.

After the race, it was noted that due to the limited number of World Cup weekends this year, the competitors will take a break until their next event in Schonach on January 17, 2025.

In the overall standings, the German team remains a formidable presence as they seek to maximize their potential this season in the Nordic Combined.
