After a Heart-Stopping Finish: Geiger Wins the Seefeld Triple

Vinzenz Geiger, racing as the fifth starter, produced a tactically brilliant performance on the 12.5‐kilometer course in Seefeld. Despite starting 41 seconds behind the leaders, Geiger closed the gap steadily – reducing his deficit to 25 seconds after five kilometers. With pressure mounting as he followed closely behind Jens Luras Oftebro, Geiger maintained his composure and resumed his planned pace.

A few meters before the finish, the Oberstdorfer surged ahead and took over the lead, a position he managed to defend until the final stretch. In the closing meters of the race, Geiger accelerated, overtaking Jarl Magnus Riiber by 0.2 seconds and Jens Luras Oftebro by 0.4 seconds to clinch the victory and the overall trophy for the Seefeld Triple – a feat reminiscent of the women’s contest won by Nathalie Armbruster.

Reflecting on his performance, Geiger explained that his strategy was to “stay cool” in the course, avoiding the mistake he made on Saturday when an early sprint cost him the lead. With a clear target in mind, he opted not to lead from the start but instead conserve energy for the final rounds. His approach paid off, as he managed to not only catch up but also secure his win in one of the most thrilling finishes of the event. Other notable finishers included Julian Schmid and Manuel Faißt, who completed the top ten, while Johannes Rydzek, David Mach, Wendelin Thannheimer, and Terence Weber rounded out the DSV team’s results.
