Starting fourth after the ski jump on Wednesday at the Milan‑Cortina 2026 Olympics, Norway’s Jens Oftebro won the Nordic combined small‑hill (Gundersen) event. He finished ahead of Austria’s Johannes Lamparter (+1.0s) and Finland’s Eero Hirvonen (+2.5s) after a hard‑fought battle on the skis.
Oftebro had recorded 127.5 points in the morning ski jump, placing him 20 seconds behind the leader Kristjan Ilves (132.6 points). The staggered cross‑country start used the Gundersen method (0.25 points on the jump equals 1 second of start penalty), and Oftebro moved up through the field in the 10 km race.
Ilves was reeled in during the fourth kilometre and later dropped off the lead group. The final duel came down to Oftebro versus Lamparter, with the Norwegian edging ahead in the final straight to claim Olympic gold.
The French team finished further back. Marco Heinis, who was 17th after the jump (118.1 points), recovered to 22nd (+4:10.9). Mael Tyrode moved up three places to 25th (+4:35.9) after scoring 105.1 in the jump (28th). Laurent Mühlethaler, 23rd after the jump (111.1 points), ended 29th.
