Nordic Combined: Too much wind! Ruka World Cup canceled

The third Nordic Combined World Cup competition in Ruka on Sunday ended without a result due to strong winds.
Austria’s Stefan Rettenegger had won the 10 km mass-start cross-country race, but, like the entire World Cup field, then had to accept that the ski jumping portion was canceled because of dangerous wind conditions. With the jumping segment scrapped, the day’s competition had no official result.
The decision, explained by race director Lasse Ottesen, came as winds of between 8 and 10 meters per second swept the venue: “As you can see, the clouds are moving very fast. We have between eight and ten meters per second of wind and have therefore decided not to hold the event.”
The cancellation also halted a potential hat-trick for Johannes Lamparter, who had won on Friday and Saturday and was sitting seventh after the ski leg on Sunday.
Next up for the Nordic Combined circuit are three individual events next weekend in Trondheim.
