The anticipation is building for the 2024 FIS Nordic Combined Summer Grand Prix, a spectacular event that seamlessly blends tradition with cutting-edge innovation. Notably, this year's competition will feature the world premiere of the women’s large hill event, a groundbreaking milestone in the sport. Athletes from around the globe will compete in nine events across three nations, with France joining Austria and Germany as a host country for the first time in years.
From August 23rd to 25th, Tschagguns, Austria, will launch the Summer Grand Prix for the first time. During the fifth edition of the event in Vorarlberg, the competitions kick off on Saturday with a Mixed Team event, followed by an Individual Gundersen for both men and women on Sunday.
Ski jumping will take place on the HS 108 at the Montafon Schanzenzentrum, before the excitement shifts to the streets of Tschagguns for the roller ski races. Additionally, a FIS Youth Cup will bring a special flair to the event as young participants are encouraged by their esteemed World Cup athlete role models.
The action moves midweek to Oberstdorf, Germany, where the spotlight will shine on the women’s large hill event in a historic first. The city’s famous Night Race course will serve as a breathtaking backdrop for two Individual Compact events, marking the debut of the Nordic Combined women on the HS 137 jump with street circuit races on August 28th. The atmosphere will be electric as spectators enjoy this unique floodlit experience.
The Grand Prix culminates back in France, where the world’s top Nordic Combined athletes return for the first time since 2018. Chaux-Neuve will host its Grand Prix debut, presenting an exhilarating finale with an Individual Gundersen on August 31st and an Individual Compact on September 1st for all competitors. The events will also be staged on a large hill at HS 118, before the Overall winners of 2024 are crowned, concluding ten thrilling days of competition.
For both seasoned fans of Nordic Combined and newcomers alike, the 2024 Summer Grand Prix promises to be an unmissable showcase of sport, innovation, and tradition before the World Cup season kicks off.
