LAKE PLACID, N.Y. — Nordic Combined USA held their National Championships on the plastic surface of Lake Placid’s 1932 and 1980’s Olympic Nordic Ski Jumps and roller ski paved trails from Oct 10-12, where Park City athlete and 2022 Beijing Winter Olympian Steven Schumann placed 3rd.

The Title of National Champion went to Steamboat Springs’s Niklas Malacinski, with second place awarded to Ben Loomis, a two-time Olympian from Park City and graduate of Park City’s Winter Sports School, representing Wisconsin’s Flying Eagles Ski Jumping Club.
“As the Nordic Combined community moves past the initial work of establishing a new non-profit organization, we found strength in a common goal—to support the dream and the future. We worked tirelessly and raised more than $170,000 in 8 weeks,” stated Jill Brabec, Nordic Combined USA representative. “There is still a lot of work to do and many questions to answer. But looking back on the last two months and all that has been accomplished by volunteers that span the country from Alaska to Lake Placid and in between, the true strength of this community is evident, and it is inspiring.”
