Germany’s Vinzenz Geiger, the defending overall champion in the Nordic Combined World Cup, will miss the start of the Olympic season after sustaining three bony ligament avulsions during a warm-up for a strength session.
The German Ski Association confirmed that the 28-year-old will be sidelined for the first World Cup stops in Ruka, Finland (27–30 November), and Trondheim, Norway (5–7 December).
The 2026 Winter Olympics are scheduled for 6–22 February in Italy. Following Norwegian star Jarl Magnus Riiber’s retirement, Geiger had emerged as one of the main challengers to Austria’s Johannes Lamparter for top honors this season.
