An eye-catching debut from 18-year-old Kacper Tomasiak highlighted the Summer Grand Prix training in Klingenthal. Selected for Poland’s team at the prestigious SGP finale, Tomasiak—who already won the Continental Cup this summer—opened with a 142 m jump in the first training session. Only Ryoyu Kobayashi flew farther and won that session; despite many top athletes landing shorter, their higher scores pushed Tomasiak to 8th, the best Polish result of the round.

Polish reactions were enthusiastic. “First steps of Kacper Tomasiak in the world elite. To start with, 142 meters in Klingenthal training. What a guy,” wrote Dominik Formela (Skijumping.pl). “A beautiful welcome to the elite, Mr. Kacper. Chapeau bas!” added Adam Bucholz.

In that first session, Kamil Stoch and Dawid Kubacki both jumped 128.5 m for 17th and 26th respectively. Piotr Żyła (123.5 m, 27th), Aleksander Zniszczoł (123.5 m, 28th) and Paweł Wąsek (119 m, 43rd) were further back.

Tomasiak backed it up in session two with 128 m for 10th, ahead of several teammates. Zniszczoł posted 129 m for 15th, Kubacki was 26th (128 m), Żyła 38th (121 m) and Wąsek 52nd (111 m). The best Polish mark in the second training came from Stoch, who delivered a strong 133 m jump to place 5th. Domen Prevc won session two.

Qualifying for Saturday’s individual event was scheduled for 19:00. The Klingenthal finale will also decide the overall SGP title: Germany’s Philipp Raimund leads with 410 points, but Japan’s Sakutaro Kobayashi sits just 42 points behind. The individual competition is slated for Saturday, 25 October at 16:05, with a mixed team event on Sunday at 14:45.
