Sudden change of plans for Polish ski jumpers: “We don’t want to risk it now”
October 02, 2025 / Przegląd Sportowy Onet
Poland’s men’s and women’s ski jumping teams have cancelled their planned autumn training camp in Predazzo, the 2026 Olympic venue, due to safety concerns about the remodeled hills. Following serious knee injuries to Eva Pinkelnig, Alexandria Loutitt and Haruka Kasai during the recent Olympic test events, coaches fear the normal hill’s unusual flight parabola and variable headwinds create dangerous landings. Assistant women’s coach Stefan Hula and coach Maciej Maciusiak said they will avoid Predazzo until adjustments are made, as FIS race director Sandro Pertile has indicated the normal hill likely needs corrections.
A real shake-up is coming: Continental Cup ski jumping to be broadcast live from 2025/26
September 30, 2025 / Przegląd Sportowy Onet
FIS will begin broadcasting nearly all Continental Cup (COC) ski jumping events live starting in the 2025/26 winter season, following successful YouTube trials at the summer COC in Hinterzarten. The plan covers 24 competitions on 11 hills, including venues outside the World Cup circuit such as Zhangjiakou and Iron Mountain, beginning in Ruka on December 13 and ending with finals in Zakopane. Officials and athletes, including winner and hill-record holder Kacper Tomasiak from the trial, say visibility will boost athlete development and sponsorship.

Martin Schmitt calls for a rules overhaul in ski jumping, questioning the telemark for safety
September 27, 2025 / Przegląd Sportowy Onet
German ski jumping legend Martin Schmitt argues that the sport should reconsider requiring the traditional telemark landing, saying it puts athletes in an unnatural position that increases injury risk. His comments follow serious knee injuries to Alexandria Loutitt and Eva Pinkelnig during the pre‑Olympic test in Predazzo, after which FIS pledged safety measures, including likely adjustments to women’s suits. The World Cup is due to open in Lillehammer on November 21, ahead of the Milan‑Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.
FIS Ski Jumping Committee reviews equipment rules to improve athlete safety
September 26, 2025 / FIS
At its Autumn Meetings in Zurich, the FIS Ski Jumping Committee proposed targeted changes to women’s suit measurements to address safety concerns after three serious injuries at the Predazzo Summer Grand Prix. The adjustments increase allowable suit circumference in key areas, set a longer minimum sleeve length, and modify crotch measurement to help reduce vertical landing speed and joint stress. The proposal, supported by athlete representative Jernej Damjan, goes to the FIS Council on October 21 and is intended to take effect before the women’s Summer Grand Prix in Klingenthal on October 25–26.

With Austria looking beyond the era of Stefan Kraft and Manuel Fettner, Bachlinger is touted as a potential new team leader.

Is Italy’s Olympic ski jump too dangerous?
September 23, 2025 / Sportschau
Three athletes suffered ACL ruptures during the Olympic test events on the newly rebuilt Predazzo hills for Milan-Cortina 2026, prompting an outcry over safety. German officials and coaches criticize the normal hill profile and tighter suit rules that increased speeds and landing forces, and they expect the FIS meetings in Zurich to address adjustments to both the hill and equipment. Austria withdrew from the large hill event for safety reasons, and the injuries have already ruled out stars like Eva Pinkelnig and Alexandria Loutitt from the Games.
What suddenly changed for the Poles? Adam Małysz reveals details
September 23, 2025 / Przegląd Sportowy Onet
Adam Małysz reacts to Poland’s duo win by Kamil Stoch and Dawid Kubacki at the pre-Olympic test event in Predazzo, calling for caution but acknowledging a key shift: the new, tighter suit rules favor more technical, older jumpers. He criticizes FIS for frequent regulation changes and confusing format tweaks, urging coherent, well‑planned reforms. Małysz notes Paweł Wąsek’s form is improving, praises Anna Twardosz’s progress, and backs head coach Maciej Maciusiak’s Polish-led approach ahead of the winter and the 2026 Olympics.
