Polish Ski Association president Adam Małysz spoke ahead of the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup stop in Wisła, held on the hill bearing his name. He said he believes the home competitions can be a breakthrough for the Polish team: “We have Wisła ahead of us and I believe these events will be a turning point for Poles. They’ll be competing at home, on their own hill, and I can’t imagine it won’t be better.”

Reflecting on the season’s start, Małysz noted that after Lillehammer the Poles’ form didn’t look bad, but the team received a “reality check” in Ruka when results dipped, contrary to expectations of steady improvement.

Małysz also defended national-team head coach Maciej Maciusiak, describing him as tough and resilient, surrounded by capable staff, and expressing calm that his work will bring results.

On fan interest, Małysz said Saturday’s competition is almost sold out and Sunday tickets are also moving well. He praised supporters for sticking with ski jumping despite recent results.

Wisła faces a busy schedule this year, with the World Cup spread over four days: women will compete on Thursday and Friday, and men will take over on Friday evening for qualifications, followed by the main events on the weekend.
