At the women’s Ski Jumping World Cup in Wisła, Poland, Germany’s Agnes Reisch delivered a strong performance, taking fifth place and narrowly missing what would have been a long-awaited podium for the German team.

Slovenia dominated the top of the standings as Nica Prevc claimed a commanding victory, with her compatriot Nika Vodan finishing second. Norway’s Anna Maria Kvendal completed the podium in third place.

Five German jumpers advanced from qualification. As on the previous day, young Alvine Holz missed out on the scoring jumps. In the first round, Reisch sat sixth and Selina Freitag tenth, raising hopes of top results. Juliane Seyfarth, dissatisfied with her execution at the takeoff, was 17th after round one, while an under-the-weather Katharina Schmid was 19th. Anna Hollandt finished 35th and did not qualify for the final series.

Reisch held her form in the final to secure fifth. Freitag also moved up to finish ninth, saying she is “getting closer” and that things are “getting easier.” Seyfarth took 16th for World Cup points, and Schmid placed 19th, noting the hill still felt tricky. Despite the near-miss, head coach Heinz Kutin expressed confidence that only a final bit of luck is missing for his squad to make the next step.

The competition was held on Wisła’s Adam Małysz Hill, part of the early-season World Cup calendar.
