Canadian ski jumping star Alexandria Loutitt has been ruled out for the entire upcoming season after suffering a serious knee injury during the Summer Grand Prix competition in Predazzo, which served as a pre‑Olympic test event.
According to Canada’s head coach Janko Zwitter, Loutitt sustained a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). She has already traveled to Innsbruck and is awaiting surgery. The crash in Predazzo abruptly ended her preparation for the winter and dashed her hopes of competing at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
Loutitt addressed the situation on social media, writing that she has always thought in Olympic cycles and had dreamed of the 2026 Games. She called Beijing 2022—where she won a bronze medal with Canada’s mixed team—an unexpected bonus, and said she is devastated not to represent Canada this time, feeling she has let down her family, friends, teammates, and sponsors.
The 21‑year‑old’s résumé includes the individual world title from Planica 2023 and two World Cup victories. She also placed third overall in the 2023/24 World Cup season. Her recovery will sideline her for many months, postponing further achievements until after rehabilitation.
