Anna Odine Strøm (NOR) claimed her fourth career individual World Cup win in Wisla, Poland, marking her first such victory since February 2023 and capping a strong comeback from a serious knee injury. Her two jumps of 127 m and 124 m totaled 246.0 points, earning a 5.1-point margin over Abigail Strate (CAN), while Japan’s Nozomi Maruyama finished third on 236.9 points and continues to lead the overall Crystal Globe standings.

The triumph was also historic for Norway: it constituted the nation’s 200th all-time individual World Cup victory across men’s and women’s FIS Ski Jumping events. Strøm, who enjoyed a stellar 2022/23 season with 10 podiums and three wins, missed much of the following season with a knee injury but signaled her return with multiple runner-up finishes late in 2024/25, a World Championship Normal Hill bronze, and a Grand Prix win.

Strøm said she focused on “keeping up the good work” after a fourth place in Falun last week, emphasizing basics and confidence. She also noted how satisfying it felt to beat the in-form Maruyama, who had dominated the early season, and referenced Nika Prevc’s strong form in Falun as context for the level of competition.

Abigail Strate secured her second podium of the season, having also placed second at the Lillehammer opener. Sitting fourth after the first round, the Canadian climbed to second with a 131 m effort for 126.3 points in round two. Maruyama slipped from second to third after a weaker second jump, finishing one point ahead of Heidi Traaserud (NOR). Lisa Eder (AUT) placed fifth.

Reigning Crystal Globe holder Nika Prevc (SLO) was disqualified after qualifications for skis measured one centimeter too long relative to body weight; she had logged the best qualifying jump at 119 m. Slovenian head coach Jurij Tepeš stressed the rules apply equally to all athletes.

The women compete again on Friday, while the men begin with Friday evening qualifications and hold competitions across Saturday and Sunday.
