Big Changes Coming to the Competitions in Wisła
Significant changes are being prepared in ski jumping competitions. During Saturday's FIS calendar planning session, a new competition format was presented that will be implemented as a test during the Summer Grand Prix events in Courchevel and Wisła this season. This marks the third time such a test will occur in the 21st century.
Director of the World Cup, Sandro Pertile, introduced the new setup where all registered athletes will participate in the first series on weekends. From there, the top 30 jumpers will advance to the second series without any changes.
Additionally, the jumpers in the first series will be divided into ten groups of five, with the top two from each group, along with five others with the best results who did not place in the top two, advancing to the final series. Notably, points from the initial series will be reset for the final round, meaning only the second jump will determine the final scores.
This marks yet another attempt by the FIS to introduce a group system into ski jumping.
