Big spectacle at the end of the Games — Poles have a shot at a medal

The mixed team (duet) contest on Monday will close the Olympic ski jumping competition. The event promises a great spectacle — as many as six teams should realistically contend for medals. Among the podium candidates are Poland, represented by two-time Milan/Cortina Olympic medallist Kacper Tomasiak and the 14th-place finisher on the large hill, Paweł Wąsek.
The Super Team event debuts as an Olympic discipline and, like the earlier competitions, is expected to deliver huge emotions. Based on the season’s results in Italy, the Japanese squad emerge as clear favourites, but they cannot be considered automatic certainties.
Poland’s pairing of Tomasiak and Wąsek will try to use their current form to secure a medal in the team duel. With the field so tight, the contest should be thrilling right until the last jump.
