Canadian ski jumper Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes sparked controversy by attacking Polish jumpers online over equipment issues, posting a photo of Piotr Żyła and writing that Poles should 'shut up' about suits. After the backlash, he told Przegląd Sportowy Onet he hadn’t intended to target a specific person but conceded the post may have been inappropriate, adding that finding past-season photos with different equipment is easy.

Ironically, in the very next event in Engelberg, Boyd-Clowes was disqualified for an illegal suit. Judges also found irregularities in the equipment of Italy’s Alex Insam. Because it was not Insam’s first violation, he received a red card, which rules him out of the second Engelberg competition and, crucially, the first event of the Four Hills Tournament. The incident comes amid ongoing scrutiny of suit regulations in ski jumping.
