Breakthrough in Ski Jumping: Women Will Enter Here for the First Time!
Originally published in Przegląd Sportowy on April 16, 2025
The joint World Cup finals for both men and women at the mammoth ski jump in Planica is a new idea from the International Ski Federation (FIS) for the 2025/26 season. Until now, women have only competed on mammoth jumps in Norway at Vikersund.
Additionally, the season will kick off with events on November 21-23 in Lillehammer. However, there will be no women's equivalent of the Four Hills Tournament this year. The FIS calendar includes only the men’s competitions in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (December 31) and Oberstdorf (January 1, 2026) that created the Two Nights Tournament last season.
In the proposed versions of the World Cup calendar for both genders, FIS did not include competitions in Wisła Malinka, which has regularly hosted events in recent years.
