German Ski Jumper Takes Extended Break
Anna Hollandt, the German ski jumper, has decided to take an indefinite break from the sport due to mental health challenges. In her emotional statement on Instagram, she shared her experiences and the impact that sports have had on her mental state.
Anna expressed disbelief about her situation, reminiscing about how at six years old she would never have imagined that her passion for ski jumping could lead her to question her happiness and self-worth. "If someone had told me as a six-year-old Anna that the sport I was just beginning would one day make me question my life, I wouldn’t have believed it," she stated.
Hollandt concluded her statement by affirming that despite the challenges, she still feels a flame inside her to compete in ski jumping.
Highlights of Hollandt's Career
Hollandt has celebrated significant successes, including winning gold at the Ski World Championships in Mixed Team events in both 2021 and 2023. Although taking a step back from competition, she aims to return in the future with renewed strength and passion for the sport.
