Disqualification — Extra sock in boot: Norway’s Anna Odine Strøm DQ at Garmisch

There was an uproar at the Two‑Nights‑Tour opener in Garmisch‑Partenkirchen: about ten months after the suit scandal at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Trondheim, another controversy has erupted around the Norwegian team.
Norwegian ski jumper Anna Odine Strøm was retroactively disqualified on Wednesday evening. The reason: during the FIS equipment control after the competition an additional insole (a second sole) was found inside one of her socks, the federation reported.
Strøm — third in the overall World Cup standings — had already won a competition in Wisła this Olympic season and had stood on the podium three times in a row before the Two‑Nights‑Tour. At the home World Championships in Trondheim in February, an event overshadowed by the Norwegian suit scandal, Strøm won gold in the team and mixed‑team events and bronze on the normal hill.
The article also notes Austrian Lisa Eder’s near‑podium (fourth) in Garmisch on New Year’s Eve and reports that the win went to Slovenia’s Nika Prevc, with Germany’s Selina Freitag and Japan’s Nozomi Maruyama completing the top positions.
The incident rekindles discussion about equipment irregularities after the Trondheim suit controversy; the FIS performed the post‑competition control that detected the extra insole and applied the disqualification.
