Leader in the World Cup standings, Domen Prevc dominated Monday's large-hill competition at Oberstdorf (Germany), the opening contest of the 74th Four Hills Tournament. Solid in the first round and impressive in the final jump, the Slovenian confirmed his status and won with 316.7 points — the first time a Slovenian has taken the Oberstdorf victory in the history of the Tournament.

Austria's Daniel Tschofenig finished second with 299.2 points and Germany's Felix Hoffmann was third with 297.3. Slovenia's Timi Zajc, initially tied for second, was later disqualified.

French interest centered on Valentin Foubert, 11th in the World Cup and one of the season's revelations after top-5 finishes at Klingenthal and Ruka. Foubert missed qualifying for the final round, finishing 30th (31st before Zajc's disqualification), eliminated by a margin of two points — roughly one extra metre would have put him through.
