Domen Prevc takes first win of the season with sensational victory in Wisla

Domen Prevc (SLO) claimed his first win of the 2025/26 season with a sensational FIS Ski Jumping World Cup victory in Wisla, Poland. After two runner-up results and a third place earlier in the winter, he totaled 286.2 points to win by 6.8 over Philipp Raimund (GER). Ryoyu Kobayashi (JPN), the top qualifier, completed the podium with 279.4 points, his second podium of the season after a win at the second World Cup event in Lillehammer.

Anze Lanišek (SLO) finished fourth with 265.8 points and continues to lead the overall Crystal Globe standings.

Prevc’s day was a remarkable turnaround after a difficult start to the weekend. He had qualified only 33rd on Friday and endured a poor trial round on Saturday. Refocusing, he delivered his best when it mattered: a first jump of 136 m for 140.6 points, 4.3 ahead of Raimund after round one. In the final, Raimund set a strong target with 130.5 m worth 143.1 points, but Prevc answered with 130 m and 145.6 points to secure the win—his 10th World Cup victory.

Prevc noted the mental reset that helped him perform: he put pressure on himself after the rough lead‑in, then decided to enjoy the competition and execute. He also followed his sister Nika Prevc’s example; she won the women’s event in Wisla the previous day.

Raimund, pleased with another strong outing after a third place in Falun, briefly thought he might win after his second jump but praised Prevc’s finish. Reigning Crystal Globe holder Daniel Tschofenig (AUT) placed sixth.

The men jump again on Sunday in Wisla, with qualification and a second competition scheduled. The weekend program (times EET) included women’s large hill qualifying and competition Friday, and men’s trial/qualification and competitions Saturday and Sunday.
