Austrian ski jumper Lisa Eder finished eighth at the women’s World Cup event in Engelberg, matching her result from the previous day. After the first round on the large hill she was third, but a shortened in-run and unfavorable winds in the final round cost her a podium. Her jumps measured 130 m and 115 m, leaving her 9.7 points shy of Germany’s Katharina Schmid, who took a podium place.

Slovenia’s Nika Prevc delivered a standout performance to secure her fourth victory of the season and the 25th World Cup win of her career. Norway’s Anna Odine Strøm, who led at halfway, missed out on another win by 16.7 points and finished second. Germany’s Katharina Schmid completed the podium.

In the overall standings, Prevc, currently second, cut the gap to leader Nozomi Maruyama by 60 points after the Japanese jumper, a five‑time winner this season and the previous day’s victor, managed only sixth following a poor first round. Austria’s Julia Mühlbacher slipped from 10th the day before to 18th.

The women’s World Cup continues over New Year with competitions in Garmisch‑Partenkirchen and Oberstdorf.
