The Ski Jumping World Cup makes its final stop before Christmas in Engelberg (SUI), where the iconic Gross Titlis large hill—renovated multiple times since its 1967 debut—will stage two men’s and two women’s competitions from December 19–21.

This weekend is the last chance for current Crystal Globe leaders Domen Prevc (SLO) and Nozomi Maruyama (JPN) to sharpen form ahead of the men’s Four Hills Tournament and the women’s Two Nights Tour across late December and early January.

Men’s preview • Domen Prevc arrives as World Cup leader on a four‑event winning streak and still the Engelberg hill record holder at 144 m (2016). • Japan’s Ryoyu Kobayashi and Ren Nikaido were both on the podium in Germany last week and look poised to challenge again. • Slovenia’s Anže Lanišek seeks a return to his early‑season winning form. • Swiss hopes rest with Gregor Deschwanden on home snow; the last Swiss World Cup winner remains four‑time Olympic champion Simon Ammann (2014). The 44‑year‑old Ammann continues to target an eighth Winter Olympics. • Germany’s Felix Hoffmann, who earned his first World Cup podium in Lillehammer, has strong memories from Engelberg after COC success last season. Meanwhile, two‑time Olympic champion Andreas Wellinger skips Engelberg to train in Oberstdorf and Planica; 21‑year‑old Ben Bayer takes his spot.

Women’s preview • Overall leader Nozomi Maruyama and reigning Crystal Globe holder Nika Prevc have won all but one women’s World Cup this season; Anna Odine Strøm claimed the other win in Wisła. • Overall standings ahead of Engelberg: Maruyama 670, Prevc 536, Strøm 408. Prevc, a double Engelberg winner in the past two seasons, “can’t wait for Engelberg” after her Klingenthal victory. • Germany’s Selina Freitag is trending up after a fourth place at home, while seven‑time world champion Katharina Schmid, 10th overall, aims to convert strong training form into a podium after finishing second in Engelberg last season.
