Unbelievable in Engelberg: hill record smashed with a 145 m bomb

Stephan Embacher stunned the field in the first round of the Engelberg World Cup with a monster 145 m jump that set a new Gross‑Titlis‑Schanze hill record. His leap beat the previous standard held by Slovenia’s Domen Prevc by one meter.
Organizers battled difficult weather throughout Sunday’s event, with strong tailwinds forcing long pauses between jumps. At times the wind eased or even turned slightly into the hill, leading to large fluctuations in results—some athletes advanced with jumps beyond 130 m while others qualified with distances closer to 120 m.
Embacher caught one of the better wind windows and capitalized perfectly for the record‑setting flight. Polish fans also had reason to cheer: four Poles progressed to the second round, with 18‑year‑old Kacper Tomasiak in fourth place after the first series, just 0.1 points off the podium.
