Austrian ski jumper Eva Pinkelnig will miss the upcoming season and the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan–Cortina after a heavy crash on the Olympic hill in Predazzo (Val di Fiemme) during the Summer Grand Prix.
According to the Austrian Ski Federation, the 37-year-old, who won the overall World Cup in 2023 and is a five‑time world silver medalist, suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament, tears of both the medial and lateral meniscus, and additional cartilage damage in her left knee. She is scheduled to undergo surgery at the Hochrum clinic.
The fall occurred on Thursday during competition on the newly refurbished Olympic facility in Predazzo. This week marked the first jumps on the remodeled hills after delays to the renovation work.
