Poland’s breakout ski jumping star of the summer and early autumn is Kacper Tomasiak. The 18-year-old capped his season by winning the overall classification of the Summer Continental Cup, and as a direct consequence, he secured an extra World Cup starting quota for Poland for the opening period of the 2025–26 winter.

Tomasiak began his summer with podiums in FIS Cup events and carried strong form throughout the Continental Cup, including a win and a podium in late September in Hinterzarten. Heading into the Klingenthal finale wearing the yellow leader’s bib, he handled difficult wind conditions and multiple interruptions: he finished eighth on Saturday and just off the podium on Sunday. His 144.5 m jump was the longest of the second round on the final day.

By winning the overall COC, Tomasiak ensured Poland will have an additional starting place for the first twelve World Cup competitions in the unusually long opening period of the winter season. Switzerland and Japan also benefit from expanded quotas. The overall podium featured Tomasiak alongside Jonas Schuster and Clemens Aigner.

The Continental Cup finale in Klingenthal drew unusually high interest—even more than the higher-tier Hinzenbach Grand Prix that same weekend—partly because quota allocations for the World Cup period were at stake. Notably, Summer Grand Prix leader Niklas Bachlinger and other World Cup-regular athletes appeared in Klingenthal’s Vogtland Arena to contest the decisive points.
