The Summer Grand Prix in ski jumping has entered its decisive phase with a Hinzenbach doubleheader (two individual events, Saturday and Sunday) on the Austrian normal hill.

In Saturday’s competition, Germany’s Philipp Raimund took the win. Poland’s Kamil Stoch, best of the Poles, finished fourth. Stoch was third after the first round with 92 m, but in the final he jumped 87 m and slipped to fourth, just off the podium.

Dawid Kubacki placed 14th and, with that result, has practically waved goodbye to his chances of the overall title this summer. Even so, several Poles remain well placed in the overall classification: Stoch and Kubacki are both fifth on 279 points, Maciej Kot sits seventh with 203 points after seven starts (he missed the final round in Hinzenbach), and Piotr Żyła is 14th with 163 points.

At the top, Germany’s Niklas Bachlinger still leads the series, but only by two points over Saturday’s winner, Philipp Raimund. Japan’s Sakutaro Kobayashi is third, five points further back. With one more Hinzenbach event to go on Sunday, the fight for the Summer Grand Prix crystal is wide open.
