“He made a declaration.” Firm message from the Polish Ski Association on the national team coach

The World Cup round in Klingenthal cooled optimism around Poland’s men’s ski jumping team. Despite hope after the first round, Polish jumpers ultimately finished outside the very top positions.
In response to growing criticism of the coaching staff, Polish Ski Association (PZN) board member Rafał Kot urged restraint in judging head coach Maciej Maciusiak. Speaking to WP SportoweFakty, Kot said he had expected better in Klingenthal—especially after a more positive weekend in Wisła—but emphasized it is too early to “settle accounts” with Maciusiak.
Kot highlighted that Maciusiak speaks openly about targeting an Olympic medal and does not ignore the team’s issues. At the same time, he cautioned that ambition and good intentions are not enough; responsibility lies with both the staff and the athletes to translate plans into results. Following Klingenthal, the mood in the camp is far from euphoric, yet PZN believes final assessments should be made later in the season rather than after a single setback.
