Halvor Egner Granerud and Anna Odine Strøm disqualified in Garmisch

Norway’s Halvor Egner Granerud and Anna Odine Strøm were disqualified after qualification at the New Year’s event in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
Granerud produced the longest jump among the Norwegians — 133 metres — but was later removed from the results after an equipment check found his competition suit didn’t meet the rules. Officials measured the suit on the legs and found the measurement to be two to three millimetres outside tolerance, which led to his disqualification and annulment of the jump.
Other Norwegian qualifiers included Kristoffer Eriksen Sundal (133.5 m), Johann Forfang (128 m), Robin Pedersen (131 m), Isak Andreas Langmo (127.5 m) and Marius Lindvik (125.5 m). Slovenian Domen Prevc won the qualification with 139.5 m.
Later the same day FIS director Sandro Pertile confirmed that Anna Odine Strøm had also been disqualified. During a post-jump equipment inspection officials found an extra insole inside Strøm’s sock. The use of such additional equipment is not permitted under the rules, so her result was voided.
Norway’s team doctor/coach Christian Meyer told NRK the insole had been used to compensate for a leg/hip imbalance stemming from a 2023 Engelberg injury; one shoe had been built up by about one centimetre to create balance. That explanation did not prevent the disqualification, which Pertile said was consistent with equipment regulations.
