Kacper Tomasiak in a strong relay of generations — the teenager who is saving Polish ski jumping

It was really charming to see how, in the space of a few days, so many people suddenly began to proclaim that they “know” Kacper Tomasiak. That fact should be recorded with genuine satisfaction because Polish ski jumping — which had been wobbling on the edge of a serious crisis — received an intravenous drip rich in life vitamins. It was delivered by one unassuming teenager. He sparked a fire that, in today’s commercialised world, will be used in every possible way.

The youngster arrived and rescued us. In the last days, Kacper Tomasiak has given Polish ski jumping something it badly needed: a story, energy and hope. What matters now is to harness that impulse in a way that benefits the team and the sport long-term, not only for fleeting headlines.

This is a premium feature and a personal take from Przegląd Sportowy’s columnist. It notes how Tomasiak — through his performances at the Olympics in Predazzo (Milano‑Cortina 2026) and in duet competitions — has become a galvanising figure for successive generations of Polish jumpers. The piece also references reactions across the Polish sporting community, from coaches and veterans to public figures, who have celebrated the result and expressed renewed optimism about the future.
