Kamil Stoch asked about Kacper Tomasiak — a surprising reaction

Kamil Stoch and Kacper Tomasiak have emerged as Poland’s standouts at the start of the new Ski Jumping World Cup season. Asked how he feels leading the national team alongside an 18‑year‑old who was born after his own Olympic debut, Stoch said he’s comfortable with the generational shift.
“It’s the natural order of things. New people come, others stop. I fully accept it and I’m glad someone like that is here. Someone who sets a level. It’s not that Kacper arrived and I’m upset that a youngster is ‘jumping over’ me. He inspires and motivates me to jump better,” Stoch told Przegląd Sportowy Onet.
Stoch considers Tomasiak highly talented and well‑grounded, noting he appears calm and aware of what he is doing on the hill. However, he deliberately avoids detailed assessments or predictions for Tomasiak’s future for two reasons: he wants to concentrate on his own performance and he doesn’t want to jinx the teenager.
He also highlighted the broader context, saying Polish youngsters have excellent conditions to grow: infrastructure, finances, and access to knowledge and innovation. “You just have to know how to use all of it,” he summed up.
