After a three-year hiatus, Kamila Karpiel has returned to the ski jump, resuming competition at the ORLEN Cup event in Szczyrk. The four‑time Polish national champion and winner of the 2017 Summer Continental Cup emphasized that her ambitions reach beyond the upcoming season, pointing to a major goal in 2030—the Olympic Games in Courchevel.

Born in 2001 in Zakopane, Karpiel has long been considered one of Poland’s most promising young women’s ski jumpers. She was the first in history to win four Polish championship gold medals in women’s ski jumping. In 2017 she won the Summer Continental Cup, and she represented Poland at the World Championships in Seefeld (2019) and again in Oberstdorf (2021).

Her progress was interrupted by health problems: she underwent knee surgery in 2019, and in 2022 she decided to suspend competition and moved to Norway. Now she is back.

Return and new challenges

After returning to Poland, Karpiel joined the club LKS Poroniec Poronin, where she trains under Andrzej Gąsienica and Wojciech Skupień. In an interview with Skijumping.pl, she noted that working directly with coaches on site gives her stability and allows a gradual return to form.

“I’m not focusing on results in the 2025/26 season. I want to devote this time to preparing for the Olympics in Courchevel in 2030. That’s a realistic plan and my goal,” Karpiel said.

“It’s much easier to work under the direct eye of coaches than online. I feel that step by step I’m getting back on track,” she added.

“After three years away, I need to make a lot of jumps to regain my former confidence. It’s a process, but I believe it will lead me to the Olympic Games,” she concluded.

In her first starts after the break, at the ORLEN Cup in Szczyrk, Karpiel finished fifth twice.
