Karl Geiger considers a drastic step after disastrous start to the World Cup season

Germany’s ski jumping star Karl Geiger says his start to the World Cup season has been far below expectations and is forcing him to consider radical measures.
After a disastrous weekend in Wisła in which he failed to make it through any qualification round, Geiger sits 40th in the overall World Cup standings with just 12 points. “Everything is going wrong. It’s not the hill or the conditions—I actually like this place. When you jump badly, you jump badly on every hill,” he told Skijumping.pl, adding that the same technical problems keep reappearing and he does not yet know how to solve them.
Geiger revealed that he and the German staff are weighing significant changes: “We have to do something. Maybe change training, or maybe I should go back to the Continental Cup. I don’t know—we need to discuss it with the team.”
The World Cup now moves to Klingenthal, where an individual event and a mixed team competition are scheduled next weekend.
