Champion Anze Lanisek ‘shocked’ after securing World Cup yellow jersey

Two-time World champion Anže Lanišek (SLO) claimed the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup yellow jersey for the first time in his career after winning the Large Hill event in Falun, Sweden. Lanišek jumped 129 m and 128.5 m for a total of 262.9 points and said he was surprised to leave in yellow, crediting calm execution in tricky conditions.
Stefan Kraft (AUT), who set the all-time World Cup points record the day before with a Normal Hill win, led after round one with the day’s longest jump (133 m) but slipped to ninth following a 119 m effort in variable winds.
Austria’s Stephan Embacher, the two-time World Junior Champion, captured his first individual World Cup podium, moving from sixth after round one to second overall with 259.9 points after a 129 m second jump. Reigning World Champion Domen Prevc (SLO) finished third with 258.7 points, an impressive result given a recent training fall that left him with a facial injury. Last season’s Crystal Globe winner Daniel Tschofenig (AUT) and double World silver medallist Jan Hörl (AUT) followed in the top positions.
Kraft will step away briefly from the circuit with his wife expecting soon. The men’s tour continues with the Ruka World Cup double (28–30 November), while the women begin their Falun World Cup program on Friday. The published schedule lists women’s Large Hill qualification and competition on 28 November, Normal Hill qualification on 29 November, and Normal Hill competition on 30 November (all CET).
