Marit Stub Nybelius from Falun has become one of the first female judges to officiate ski jumping at the Olympic Games. Together with her Italian colleague Giovanna Comina, she was one of the first women to judge both ski jumping and Nordic combined in Predazzo, Italy, at the Milano–Cortina 2026 Olympics, making sporting history.
Nybelius has been one of the few female international judges since 1998. For her the Olympic assignment was not only a professional task but also an opportunity to contribute to lasting change in the sport. “It feels extra special to be one of the first women to judge at the Olympics and I hope to experience a bit of Olympic magic,” she says.
She hopes her presence in Predazzo will inspire more women to get involved in officiating. Nybelius says she wants her participation to lead to more female judges and broader representation in the judging ranks.
