Medal table at the Olympics after Poland's sensational medal

We have the fourth medal at this year’s Winter Olympic Games! Kacper Tomasiak once again thrilled everyone — this time he won silver together with Paweł Wąsek — and that allowed the Polish team to climb the medal table.

It all started with Kacper Tomasiak. The 19-year-old won an individual silver on the normal hill and became the first Polish medalist at these Winter Olympics. That was only the beginning.

The sensational second-place finish in the duet (team) event — won by Tomasiak together with Wąsek — added another medal to Poland’s tally. Vladimir Siemirunnij also took a silver, and Tomasiak added a bronze in another competition, giving Poland a total of four Olympic medals (three silver and one bronze).

Thanks to these results Poland rose to 19th place in the Olympic medal standings. Leading the table are Norway, Italy and the Netherlands.

The competition had dramatic moments: the FIS annulled the last round before the final three jumpers, and had the cancelled series stood, Poland would have been off the podium. After the jumpers’ final series and the duet result, Polish celebrations followed — the achievement sparked reactions across the country and from prominent figures.
