Non-compliant suit scandal: two Norwegian ski jumpers and three team officials charged by FIS

The International Ski Federation (FIS) has brought charges against five members of Norway’s ski jumping program over the “suit gate” affair stemming from the 2025 World Championships in Trondheim.
Those charged are jumpers Marius Lindvik and Johann André Forfang, along with team officials Magnus Brevig, Thomas Lobben, and Adrian Livelten. The FIS alleges violations of the FIS Universal Ethics Code and rules on preventing competition manipulation, specifically the illegal manipulation of equipment (non‑compliant competition suits) during the Championships, notably in the large hill event.
The case follows provisional suspensions issued in March to Lindvik and Forfang, and Norway’s decision in May to part ways with Brevig, Lobben, and Livelten after internal admissions that suits had been altered. Brevig and Livelten were secretly filmed in early March in a room where suits were being unstitched and modified.
At Trondheim, Lindvik initially finished second on the large hill but was disqualified after an equipment inspection, losing the silver medal; Forfang, who placed fourth, was also disqualified. The Norwegian Ski Federation acknowledged after the event that suits were manipulated, while insisting the athletes did not know about the alterations.
Norwegian team manager Jan‑Erik Aalbu expressed surprise that Lindvik (27) and Forfang (30) were charged, stating there is no evidence the athletes were aware of the manipulation and that the federation respects the ongoing process. He previously said the staff had reinforced thread inserted into Lindvik’s and Forfang’s suits, done knowing it was against the rules but believing it would not be detected by FIS equipment control. “In my eyes, we cheated. We tried to trick the system. It’s unacceptable,” Aalbu said in March.
FIS has not indicated when its ethics committee will issue a final ruling. The development comes with the Milan–Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics six months away (February 6–22).
