Remove two Poles’ points and it’s a disaster: Poland’s shaky Ski Jumping World Cup start

Poland’s ski jumpers have delivered a mixed opening to the 2025/26 FIS World Cup season. After the early events in Lillehammer, Falun and Ruka, the team has collected 190 points in total—according to Ski Jumping analyst Adam Bucholz, the second‑best five‑competition start by Poland in the last five seasons.

The headline concern is depth. If you remove the points scored by Kamil Stoch and 18‑year‑old Kacper Tomasiak—73 each—the remaining Polish total is only 44 points, which Bucholz notes would be Poland’s weakest supporting output in 17 years. The rest of the team’s haul so far comes from Dawid Kubacki (23), Piotr Żyła (14) and Paweł Wąsek (7).

Ruka’s weekend underscored the volatility facing athletes: persistent weather issues limited Saturday’s event to a single round and forced Sunday’s cancellation. Polish fans had little to celebrate—Kubacki and Żyła were out in qualifying—while Tomasiak salvaged the day with an 18th place. Other Poles finished outside the top 30.

Attention now turns to a home stop: the World Cup in Wisła at the Adam Małysz Hill. The program is set from Friday to Sunday, beginning with Friday training and evening qualification, a trial round and individual competition on Saturday, and qualification plus a second competition on Sunday.
