Nine Polish athletes have been selected for this weekend’s FIS Ski Jumping World Cup in Klingenthal, Germany. The men’s team features Kacper Tomasiak, Kamil Stoch, Piotr Żyła, Dawid Kubacki, Paweł Wąsek and Maciej Kot, while the women’s team includes Anna Twardosz, Pola Bełtowska and Nicole Konderla‑Juroszek.
Head coach Maciej Maciusiak made one change after the Wisła round, bringing in Maciej Kot for Aleksander Zniszczoł, who has yet to score World Cup points this season. After Sunday’s win in Wisła, Slovenia’s Domen Prevc leads the overall standings with 470 points, ahead of teammate Anže Lanišek (438) and Japan’s Ryoyu Kobayashi (406). Tomasiak has 124 points in 14th place and is currently the top‑ranked Pole; Stoch is 21st with 77 points.
Austria’s Stefan Kraft, who skipped Ruka and Wisła to be with his wife for the birth of their child, is set to return in Klingenthal. The piece also recalls Klingenthal history: the first World Cup there in 1986 was won by Finland’s Matti Nykänen. Gregor Schlierenzauer has two victories at the venue, as do Halvor Egner Granerud, Karl Geiger and Ryoyu Kobayashi. Kamil Stoch won here in 2011, Krzysztof Biegun claimed a surprise win at the start of 2013/14, and Adam Małysz twice reached the podium. Poland has also won two team events on the Vogtland Arena hill.
Stoch has 80 career World Cup podiums; his most recent was on 11 December 2021—third place in Klingenthal in a competition won by Kraft. Vogtland Arena (also known as Schwarzbergschanze) has a K‑point of 125 m and HS 140, with a capacity of about 30,000. The official hill record is 146.5 m, shared by Michael Uhrmann, Andreas Wellinger and Gregor Deschwanden.
