The eagerly awaited Four Hills Tournament begins on Monday in Oberstdorf, with Poland fielding a five‑man team: Kamil Stoch, Maciej Kot, Paweł Wąsek, Piotr Żyła, and Kacper Tomasiak.
In qualifying, Stoch performed best among the Poles in 14th place, with solid showings from Kot, Żyła, and Tomasiak, while Wąsek was the last of the Polish group. The qualifier was won by World Cup leader Domen Prevc, who, together with Ryoyu Kobayashi, is regarded as a main favorite for the overall title. Prevc arrives in top form after five December victories; Kobayashi is a two‑time Four Hills champion.
From the Polish contingent, Stoch is the most experienced in the Four Hills, having won the tournament three times, including a historic sweep of all four events in 2017/18. However, the most consistent Pole this season has been 18‑year‑old Tomasiak, already twice fifth in World Cup competitions and missing the second round only once this winter.
KO pairings for the Poles in Monday’s Oberstdorf event: - Kamil Stoch vs Tomofumi Naito (JPN) - Maciej Kot vs Paweł Wąsek (POL) - Piotr Żyła vs Artti Aigro (EST) - Kacper Tomasiak vs Niko Kytösaho (FIN)
Schedule and how to watch (Monday, 29 December): - 15:00 — trial round - 16:30 — individual competition
Live coverage will be broadcast on Eurosport 1 and streamed on HBO Max; in Poland the men’s individual event will also air on TVN. A live text report is available at Przegląd Sportowy Onet.
