Polish ski jumpers have struggled in recent weeks in both the World Cup and the Continental Cup, but the Alpen Cup in Seefeld delivered a welcome boost.

On Saturday, 20 December, on the Toni-Seelos-Olympiaschanze (HS109), 19‑year‑old Kamil Waszek produced a strong performance to finish fourth. He opened with a superb 108 m jump and, despite a weaker second round of 98 m, held on to P4, missing third place—claimed by Germany’s Lukas Haagen—by just 6.9 points. The victory went to Slovenia’s Enej Faletić with consistent jumps of 103.5 m and 104.5 m in tricky, changeable conditions.

Poland placed five athletes in the points: Łukasz Łukaszczyk (19th), Wiktor Szoda (22nd), Klemens Staszel (25th), Konrad Tomasiak (29th), alongside Waszek’s fourth. For Waszek, this was only his second Alpen Cup start of the season—after taking eighth on Friday on the normal hill in Seefeld. He now has 82 points and sits 17th overall, while Łukaszczyk is the highest-ranked Pole in the series in 11th.

Despite the broader downturn in results at higher tiers, the Seefeld outing gives Polish fans reasons for optimism as the young jumpers gain form and confidence.
