World Cup leader Domen Prevc (SLO) extended his advantage atop the Crystal Globe standings with a fourth successive World Cup victory, completing the Klingenthal double on the final day of competition in Germany.
After winning both contests in Wisła (POL) the previous week and the first event in Klingenthal on Saturday, Prevc faced a tight battle in the second competition. Beijing 2022 Normal Hill Olympic champion Ryoyu Kobayashi (JPN) trailed by just 0.2 points after the first round.
Prevc was the only jumper to clear at least 140 meters in both rounds. He delivered 141.0 m in round one and a sublime 140.5 m in round two to finish with 275.1 points and win by 13.0 points.
Japan’s Ren Nikaido matched the best result of his career by taking second with 262.1 points, while teammate Kobayashi placed third with 261.0 points. Prevc now leads the 2025/26 overall World Cup by 159 points over Kobayashi after the first 10 events of the season.
“Actually, I was really, really nervous on the top as I know my legs are still stiff from yesterday and I didn’t feel my best,” Prevc told FIS. “My jumps were a bit safe, but all were good and I’m so happy I could score two good jumps in the competition and super happy to win again in Klingenthal. I want to keep it going as long as possible.”
Thick fog and mist again reduced visibility at Vogtland Arena, but the 50-strong field competed undeterred. Four-time Olympic medalist Andreas Wellinger (GER) missed the main round after failing to qualify, a day after finishing 40th.
Germany’s Philipp Raimund, third on Saturday, sat ninth at halftime with 137.0 m. Last season’s Crystal Globe winner Daniel Tschofenig (AUT) and two-time world champion Anže Lanišek (SLO) were 27th and 17th after round one, respectively. At the front, just 10.7 points separated leader Prevc from fifth-placed Kristoffer Sundal (NOR), with Kobayashi, Nikaido, and Valentin Foubert (FRA) between them.
Tschofenig and teammate Jonas Schuster (AUT) made the biggest second-round climbs, each gaining nine places to finish inside the top 20. Stephan Embacher (AUT) and Halvor Egner Granerud (NOR) improved five spots to land in the top 10, with home favorite Raimund ending 10th.
There was no change among the top five names. Foubert’s second jump of 137.0 m briefly put him in podium contention, but Nikaido’s 135.0 m for 123.1 points secured second overall. Foubert still celebrated a career-best fourth, while Kobayashi could not improve enough to overtake Nikaido.
Prevc turned a narrow first-round lead into a commanding victory with his second jump, sealing a richly deserved fourth straight World Cup triumph in challenging conditions.
