Disappointment for Austria as Domen Prevc doubles up in Klingenthal and extends World Cup lead

Domen Prevc continued his dominant December form by winning the second World Cup competition of the weekend, securing a Klingenthal double and further consolidating his overall World Cup lead.
On the large hill, the 26‑year‑old Slovene was again in a class of his own, taking his 13th World Cup victory. He finished 13 points ahead of Japan’s Ren Nikaidō and 14.1 points ahead of fellow Japanese star Ryōyū Kobayashi.
Austria endured a disappointing afternoon. Stephan Embacher was the top Austrian in 8th after improving in the second round, and Manuel Fettner placed 9th despite slipping three spots from 6th after the first jump. Stefan Kraft, runner‑up the previous day in his comeback as a new father, finished 11th after losing four places in the final round. Daniel Tschofenig was 18th, and Jan Hörl failed to qualify for the second round.
Germany’s 2018 Olympic champion Andreas Wellinger did not qualify, managing only 111.5 m, and now faces selection uncertainty ahead of the Four Hills Tournament. Before the prestigious series begins in Oberstdorf on 29 December, the circuit heads to Engelberg for two events next week.
